Dr. Stephen B. Freeman is a Hoosier native from South Bend. After graduating from Purdue University, he obtained his medical degree from Indiana University and then served 10 years in the U.S. Navy, where he completed his residency in Otolaryngology in Oakland, CA. Dr. Freeman completed an additional fellowship in Head and Neck Surgery in Indianapolis, IN. He served in the Navy in Guam, Virginia and California before resigning his commission as a Commander in 1990.

Dr. Freeman has a distinguished teaching career, in addition to his clinical expertise. He served as a clinical professor at the Uniformed Services University in Washington, D.C., an assistant professor at the University of Tennessee in Memphis, and as Chief of Otolaryngology at the Veterans Medical Center in Memphis. He returned to Indiana in 1991 when he joined Head and Neck Surgery Associates. Since then, he has been the Program Director of more than 30 fellows and 100's of residents have trained under his guidance.

Dr. Freeman's practice centers around two main areas: Sinus and Allergy, and Head and Neck Surgery. He developed the Freeman Frontal Sinus Stent that is used worldwide. Dr. Freeman strives to form a partnership with his patients to achieve their goals of being well, whether they are tired of their sinus and allergy problems or battling for their lives with cancer of the head and neck. Concerning his dedication to his patients, Dr. Freeman says, "I am driven to be the best that I can be. I chose Ears, Nose and Throat because I like caring for all age groups struggling with a wide variety of ailments. The cancer patients are dear to me for their courage and willingness to form lifelong relationships. I have chartered my learning experience by reading, interacting with my mentors and undertaking many years of training in subspecialty care to enable me to provide the best and latest care.

WHAT PEOPLE SAY

“I have suffered with sinus issues for years. It got so bad I finally sought the help of an ENT. After being examined by Dr. Freeman it was determined nasal polyps were contributing to the problem. In February 2015 Dr. Freeman perfumed outpatient surgery. I am so glad I had this done. It went much better than I expected and it is so good to be able to breathe through my nose again. Dr.Freeman and all the staff at CENTA treated me with compassion and professionalism. They are very knowledgeable and skillful in their profession. I would not hesitate to seek their help again in the future if needed."
